Background

Richard Smith has practised in South Australia as a barrister and solicitor since 1977. His entire career has been based on insurance law, including personal injury, liability, professional indemnity, and property classes.

In 1998, Richard was appointed as a panel solicitor by Lawguard, the professional indemnity insurers of the legal profession. Richard is also a solicitor to the SA Dental Association Indemnity Scheme. He acts for the liability underwriters of various major shopping centres in SA.

Richard’s principal practice has always involved personal injury claims. Prior to joining Lawson Smith, he had a significant CTP plaintiff practice having been involved in many major claims he has developed a reputation for proactive management of personal injury claims with a focus on early resolution and use of ADR options.
