Background

Throughout his career, Phil Lawson has specialised in insurance, commercial and personal injury litigation and advice. In recent years he has practiced solely as a solicitor with emphasis on professional indemnity, liability, insurance and commercial disputes and advice.

Phil also practices in media law, providing both pre and post publication advice to a high profile South Australian commercial television station, several newspapers and other media outlets.

Phil has acted for local and international underwriters in the Commonwealth, South Australian, West Australian, Tasmanian, and Northern Territory Superior Courts. He has been involved in major litigation throughout his career including numerous complex and multi-million dollar claims.

Recently Phil has been acting for insurers in a $45 million mining claim in WA and a $25 million fire claim in SA.

A recognised professional leader in insurance law, Phil has chaired a statutory authority, and has been active on a number of Law Society Committees.
